Wicklow and Wexford Schools Triumph in National Finals

Eight of the top schools in the country made the trip to Leisuremax, Wexford for the 2015 Schools Final on December 2nd.

The action kicked off at 9 a.m., with teams competing over two games and the winners decided over total combined pinfall for these two games.

There was some terrific bowling but in the end there could only be two winners, one in the National School section and one in the Secondary School section.

In the end Glebe National School from County Wicklow took the National School title ahead of Blackwater of Wexford, while the Secondary School crown went to St.Peters, Wexford, ahead of second placed Wicklow Youth Reach.

All competitors on the day were awarded a special National Schools Final medal, with the players on the winning teams in each section receiving a winner’s trophy made out of a real bowling pin.

The Finals were the culmination of this year’s National Schools Tenpin Bowling Week, which took place in November all around the country. The Week saw 18,500 pupils take advantage of free bowling in their local centre in an initiative run by the Irish Tenpin Bowling Association. 2015 was the third year of the initiative and was a major success.

Congratulations to this year’s National School’s Champions, Glebe National School, Wicklow, and St.Peter’s, Wexford.
