Irish Open Championships 2021

The following communication from Leisureplex:

Hi Everyone!

It is with regret to inform you all of the Cancellation of the 2021 Irish Open Championships.

We have been holding out cancelling the Irish Open, with the hope of things getting better but with the uncertain times we are all living in, and the uncertainty around travel and all the restrictions that comes with it, we have been left with no choice.

The Irish Open has a massive following of loyal athletes and we can only thank you for your continued support!

We hope to run a local tournament in Dublin the normal week the Irish Open would normally be on, we will keep our local bowlers informed and if travel restrictions are somewhat lifted at that point it may be possible for some of our European Bowlers to join us! Fingers Crossed!

To finish on a positive note, The Irish Open will be back in January 2022!!

January just won’t be the same without you all! We will miss you!

Stay safe everyone!

Sean, Lorraine & Sarah ???

Roll on 2022!!!

From all of us here at ALSAA we are delighted to welcome you back !!

The centre has undergone a major facelift with creating space and easy clean surfaces at the forefront of our thinking, including floor coverings that suppress viruses and lots of space in the bowlers area.

In addition we will have the following protocols in place to make the Bowl as safe as possible for all.

  • Sanitisier stations at entrance and key areas throughout the centre
  • Temperature checks for all staff and customers on arrival
  • Enhanced cleaning of all surfaces and touch points through the day
  • Cleaning of Bowlers area, and ball return after each group
  • Bowlers can use one or two lanes. ( max 4 per pair) for practice and Drop in’s.
  • Please keep any towels, Rosin bags etc. in your own tray on table at rear of lanes.
  • Cleaning of balls during a game with alcohol cleaners is permissible

In line with current Government guidelines please maintain social distancing. If you feel unwell please do not visit the centre. If you become unwell whist here please let us know.

Further guidelines will be issued in relation to the starting of our leagues closer to the time. We do hope you like the new look and can’t wait to see you on the lanes soon.

Sport Ireland COVID-19 Awareness eLearning Course

Please note that the linked COVID-19 Awareness eLearning Course has now been updated to include COVID-19 Officer training. This will be completed by Officers appointed by each Sub-Committee to manage their bowling activities.

With bowling centers reopening over the coming weeks, we are continuing to work with Sport Ireland, the Federation Of Irish Sport and the Centers in planning for a safe return for all our bowlers.

As further details become available we will be providing information here so that all Bowlers, Coaches and Officials are aware of the protocols that must be adhered to. To prepare you for what is coming, please follow this link to a COVID-19 Awareness eLearning Course provided by Sport Ireland.
